And sometimes so does PETA. in her new book, ingrid Newkirk, president and cofounder of the animal rights group, presents a light-hearted way to show your concern and love for pets: Have a dog party. By ingrid E. Newkirk

Some people buy their dogs jeweled collars, make sure they eat off nothing but the finest china, and treat them to limo rides around town. But dogs don’t really care for frippery and flash. What a dog needs is a party!

A dog party can be very elaborate, very chic, very impressive, and knock the socks off any human beings lucky enough to score an invitation, but it can also be as simple as simple can be and as plain as Jane. And, from a dog’s perspective, that’s just fine!

Whatever the theme or whatever effort goes into it, a dog party provides a great bonding experience that means the world to that special dog in your life. It is the quickest, sweetest, most appreciated way to show your love and affection. And love given is like the proverbial bread cast upon the water that comes back 100-fold!
