Jason’s favorite avocado recipe
is for a raw chocolate mousse.

6 ripe avocados

2 cups yummy dates, finely chopped or pureed

1 cup raw cacao

¹⁄2 cup raw carob

1 heaping tablespoon coconut oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup dark agave nectar

(or sweeten to your liking)

Blend, mix, stir, or whip all ingredients to your favorite texture. Devour.

do your tour buses use biodiesel? What other steps do you take on the road to lessen your environmental impact? Last time I checked we were only running 80/20, which means 20 percent of the fuel is biodiesel, which is a healthy start, but still a long way to go from electric. I also encourage

everyone to carry their own canteen and rely on refilling stations or filters to hit the taps. The thought of using a water bottle just once, like every plastic bottle we go through, makes me cringe. I also encourage people to shop locally. The less we support long-haul shipping, the more the globe appreciates us.

I spread myself out. This year

I supported the Surfrider
Foundation and the nrdC
to help save our North County
State Park from becoming part of
a useless toll road. I also donated
to Barack Obama’s campaign
because I believe a vote for him
is a vote for a new kind of attitude
in America.

What is the greatest sacrifice you’ve made in your efforts to

live greener? There are no
sacrifices. Life has improved.
I feel better. I spend less on utilities.
I make fewer trips to the garbage,
as everything is sorted. I am happy.

and your favorite way to eat an avocado? The easiest is fresh off the ground after rain knocks the ripe fruit free. Crack it open and add a squeeze of lemon. Straight up. 0
